Departing the hotel with a Kilted Guide you will be transferred to the Historic Halifax Public Gardens, where you will enjoy nature in the heart of the city. The Public Gardens encompass 16 acres and are bounded by Spring Garden Road, South Park Street, Summer Street and Sackville Street. The landscaping style is Victorian formal and provides a popular setting for wedding and prom photos. In addition to statues and extensive flower beds, there are three fountains, two stone bridges, three ponds and a small concession building. The gardens also feature a bandstand that is used for free public concerts on Sunday afternoons during the summer.

After enjoying the gardens enjoy the shopping experience, the downtown vibe, and the entertainment in Park Lane, the anchor of Atlantic Canada’s premiere shopping district – Spring Garden Road. Browsing, schmoozing, and people watching… talk about social networking! We invented the concept long before it was cool. With over 40 shops and services, there’s something for everyone at Park Lane. Continuing down Spring Garden Road you will enjoy a Luncheon prepared by Chef Craig Flinn of Chives Canadian Bistro

The Chef: Hailing from Halifax, Craig Flinn is noted as a supporter of the local food movement in Nova Scotia. Craig opened Chives Restaurant in 2001, developing a reputation as a solid supporter of local food producers. The restaurant menus are based on seasonal produce from local farmers, sustainable seafood, and artisan cheese and meat producers, with the core menu changing every six to eight weeks. In 2013, Craig opened his second restaurant, 2 Doors Down Food + Wine. Acclaimed as “your neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of downtown Halifax”, it shares the same vision as Chives and is committed to using locally sourced produces. Both restaurants have been recognized with numerous awards.

Craig is the author or three cookbooks: Fresh and Local (2008), Fresh Canadian Bistro (2009) and Fresh and Frugal (2010). In 2012, he was named a culinary ambassador of Nova Scotia, an honour presented as part of the Taste of Nova Scotia’s Prestige Awards.
